Boulder Internal Medicine

Boulder Internal Medicine. Boulder Internal Medicine is a private internal medicine practice that provides an advanced prevention program as well as routine internal medicine care., including both in and out patient. The practices operates with a subscription model.

For about 2 years, this practice has utilized pre-med undergraduates and post graduates in their office as scribes, medical assistants and a combination of both. At the the time I spoke with William Blanchet, MD, the owner and practice lead, there were 4 scribes for 3 positions. The minimum time commitment is 20 hours per week.

Contact: the head nurse. IF there are positions open, will put you in touch with the head scribe, who does the interviewing, puts the final seal of approval on hires and also trains. The most valuable skill, according to Dr. Blanchet, is comfort with technology, and any experience at all with electronic health records.

This is a less formal program than some of the others, but with an excellent group of physicians.

Additionally, working as a medical scribe allows me to practice taking vitals, perform phlebotomy, and gain insight into how insurance companies and pharmacies work. This hands-on learning that I am exposed to will be infinitely helpful for my future medical career.
