Professional Education – LIVING WITH DYING : A Physician’s Personal Story
We have a rare opportunity to spend some time with Mogens B. Thomsen, M.D, PhD, Associate Professor, University of Lund, Sweden, a retired general and vascular surgeon who has a diagnosis of terminal kidney cancer metastasized to his lungs.
Dr. Thomsen has been speaking with audiences of medical professionals to describe his experiences with death and dying—from the point of view of a physician, the husband of a dying wife and, now, as a dying patient himself.
The focus of this presentation will be a half hour presentation by Dr. Thomsen followed by conversation with session participants about helping physicians understand how to skillfully and compassionately be/speak with patients about dying, and how doctors can deal with their own feelings as well. This session will be held via teleconference with Dr. Thomsen at his home in Sweden.
WHERE: Longmont United Hospital, 2130 Mountain View Ave., Longmont
