Immediate Past President
Leto Quarles, MD

Leto Quarles MD started off in Biomedical Engineering, earning her undergraduate degree from Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland OH. She spent a few fascinating years in graduate studies and lab research before she realized that her real passion was for direct human connection, and she transitioned to clinical work and then to medical school. Dr Quarles graduated from Ross University School of Medicine, followed by Family Medicine Residency at the University of Illinois at Chicago – Rockford and then a High Risk and Surgical OB Fellowship at the University of Utah. She then spent the next decade working in health centers for low income and uninsured patients and in international health.
Dr. Quarles settled in the Boulder area in 2006, and enjoys providing full-spectrum primary care to a vibrantly diverse community of patients. When she is not working one-on-one with a patient in the office or hospital, you can often find her advocating and collaborating out in the community to improve public health through access to care, addressing Social Determinants of Health at the community level, and promoting mental wellness for all.
Dr. Quarles completed her tenure as Boulder County Medical Society President in October 2016, and is proud to continue serving on the BCMS Board of Directors as well as several Colorado Medical Society committees.
